Unicut recently refurbished the canteen at Carlingford High School which serves over 1500 high school students. Given the need to serve such large numbers of students on a tight schedule, the school canteen kitchen needs to function efficiently and safely.

The layout has been designed with workflow in mind to help keep the kitchen working smoothly. It provides staff with improved facilities such as new handwashing basins, large preparation benches, and stainless steel sinks. The redesigned space offers more valuable bench space – with wider, stainless steel benchtops. The benchtops are not only easy to clean, but can reduce the risk to students with allergies. They also help the canteen cater to students with other dietary restrictions. Additional storage has also been included to keep stock clean and adhere to food safety standards.
Water and energy saving features were also installed to reduce running costs and the canteens carbon footprint.
The new refurbished canteen makes it easier for staff to prepare and serve the wide variety of food options required under the NSW governments ‘Health School Canteens’ legislation.
New appliances such as commercial dishwasher help maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety. Unicut Spaces refurbished the canteen to provide a fit for purpose space that’s great for staff and students, and is fully compliant with all food safety requirements.
